Brick Cleaning
Brick Cleaning Services by Professionals
Exterior Cleaning Pros has over two decades of experience Brick Cleaning in the North West, particularly in Greater Manchester, the Wirral and Merseyside. Over our two decades we have come to appreciate the best methods to provide low cost, premier solutions for our clients.
Particularly frequent in areas with heavy traffic or close to current, or previously, industrialised areas soot collects on the face of bricks forming layers, that over long periods of time begin to blacken the surface of the brick. This process happens over decades and can spread to cover the entire brick façade if left untreated.

Specialist Brick Cleaning Services Greater Manchester & Merseyside
Experience guides our planning, but our industry standard equipment is what allows us to effectively provide solutions. The most essential equipment when brick cleaning is having the right chemical solution to effectively get behind and lift off the soot. Because of the layered, flat structure of the soot simple “brute force” methods of removal will prove ineffective.
Instead, a strong negative Ph solution is needed to effectively permeate the soot membrane, dig between the layers and lift it off the face of the brick. The mixing and application of this potentially hazardous solution must be undertaken by a highly experience and qualified team, such as ourselves.

Stone and Brick Cleaning In Manchester & Cheshire
We also make use of water-fed poles that can extend four storeys to apply the solution, ensuring that regardless of the height of the problem, we have the flexibility to reach and clean the brick. Another key tool we make use of is a variety of high power pressure washers that will act to power away soot that has been weakened by the chemical treatment. We understand exactly how to best apply power washers whilst avoiding damaging the brick.
On especially large jobs we can also source cherry pickers in order to reach particularly high heights.
The Process
Step 1 : Initial Consultation
Before we begin any job, we will come to meet you at the property to discuss the issues, your specification and any areas we should be aware of. We will then draw up an estimated timetable, with most jobs only taking a day to complete.
Step 2 : Solution Application
Following the initial consultation we will then arrive at the job on the agreed date where we will first apply the chemical solution. Using the water fed poles we will apply the solution in several coats so as to properly penetrate the membrane.
Step 3 : Power Wash
Once we have applied the first coat of solution, we will then rinse it off with a power wash, doing this with every additional coat. This part of the job frequently sees the most dramatic results, with the soot often running down the face of the brick in a water fall like effect.
Step 4 : Closing Consultation
Once we have removed all of the soot from the face of the brick, we will then meet with you to discuss how the job has been completed, any issues we encountered and any advice we can give to prolong the life of your clean. Our service has a 100% rate of total success and we have never failed to totally clean the surface of brick of all soot.
Step 5 : Professional Care for Old & Listed Building
We have the skills and versatility to take on jobs of all sizes and we can do it at a cost effective rate, these being just two of the reasons are the best rated firm offering a brick cleaning service. We appreciate the delicate nature of old brick, having cleaned Grade II listed buildings, so you can rest easy knowing that your brick is in the care of experienced professionals.
Excellent reputation for quality of work
We use our high powered petrol jet washer to clean your block paving and concrete. If there is any residual organic growth we chemical wash it to get it looking its best.
This type of stone can be quite difficult to clean as often there is lichen marking the surface which pressure washing alone cannot remove. We firstly wash the patio with our petrol powered washer taking care not to damage the pointing and if there is evidence of lichen black spot, we will apply our chemical wash to remove it. Customers are usually amazed at how good the stone looks when cleaned, it’s easy to forget how good it looked when it was initially laid.
